RAVEN's Youth Violence Prevention and Leadership Programming
Youth Violence Prevention and Youth Leadership Programming
RAVEN began its youth violence prevention program in 2004 because of a clear community need to get youth the information, skills and tools about domestic violence early. Youth WAV is now RAVEN’s fastest growing program. It is an educational program that specializes in working with youth, ages 12-17 that are at risk for committing violence in their relationships. Risk factors include:
  • Witnessing violence in their home
  • Being abused as children
  • Living in a community that is supportive of violence
The youth violence prevention program gives youth information about dating violence and gender norms, as well as teaching them alternative tools and skills to use in their relationships with others.

RAVEN also offers a peer leadership program called Youth Working Against Violence (Youth WAV). Thanks to the Avon Foundation, graduates of the youth violence prevention program can become paid co-faciliators. This is an exciting addition to RAVEN's programming!

If you are interested in joining a youth group, or referring a youth to the group, contact the RAVEN office.

RAVEN's Youth Program can also come to you! If you work in a school or community based program that serves youth, our facilitators can work with you to set up a series of educational groups for the youth at your location.
